Crystal Gibbins is inspired by place and her natural surroundings. The eleven years she lived on Oak Island, in Lake of the Woods,
Minnesota, provides her with rich metaphors to use in her writing. She is profoundly influenced by William Stafford's poetry and his approach
to writing.
The poet received an M.F.A. in Creative Writing and a Certificate in Publishing at Minnesota State University, Moorhead. She is currently pursuing an M.A. in English Literature & Language at Winona State University in Winona, MN. Her poetry has appeared in Dust & Fire, The Talking Stick, Touchstone, and a number of other literary magazines.
